Decorating Ideas for Candles
If you have a couple of plain old candles at home, think twice before disposing of them. You can still give these materials a whole new look using a bit of know-how and plenty of imagination. Read the steps written below and get your creative juices flowing.
Using any candle as a base, find a hue that contrasts with the materials you are using as decoration for the most striking effects. Then, arrange objects you want to add. These can either be beads, doilies, lace, seashells, coloured glass, sand, or mosaic tiles.
Next, put a chunk of wax, which you would use as an adhesive, into the top of a double boiler and set the heat on high. Remember to stir the mixture frequently to keep it from clumping or sticking to the sides. Monitor the temperature of the paraffin using a candy thermometer. Turn the heat off when it reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
Then, lather hot wax onto the back of the decorative object using a paintbrush, and press the item quickly onto the candle and allow it to cool.
